W.H.A.L.E.™ Car Seat Sticker Program

The Passenger Safety Program at Nationwide Children's Hospital is proud to introduce involvement in the W.H.A.L.E.™ car seat sticker program.  W.H.A.L.E.™ stands for "We Have A Little Emergency."

These stickers are place don the bottom of the car seat and are intended to serve as an identifier for a child riding in a car seat.  If adults involved in a motor vehicle crash are seriously injured and unable to talk, emergency medical (EMS) personnel and emergency department staff can use the information on the stickers to identify the child, be advised on any special needs the child may have and know who to contact in an emergency.  The W.H.A.L.E.™ program is nationally known to EMS and emergency department staff.  Stickers are available by calling (614) 722-6612.

The program consists of three parts:

  1. An Information Label is attached to the back of the car seat, which provides important information about the child such as name, date of birth, medical history and who to contact in case of emergency.  The label is place don the back of the car seat where it is not visible from outside the vehicle.  This ensures the privacy of this personal information.
  2. Two W.H.A.L.E.™ Car Seat Stickers are attached to the sides of the seat.
  3. Two W.H.A.L.E.™ Vehicle Stickers are attached to the rear/side windows of the vehicle.  Each of these stickers depicts the W.H.A.L.E.™ logo and will alert emergency personnel that the occupants participate in the program.
